Welcome to Episode Forty-Nine of Do You Dare?
This week we’re visiting one of the most bizarre houses possibly ever built that’s lore is maybe even stranger than the property itself.
(Trigger warnings: N/A)
In this episode Em is sharing the story of the Winchester Mystery House, a sprawling 24,000 square foot Victorian mansion that’s construction first began in 1884 and continued for almost 40 years.
From secret passages and hidden rooms to disorienting staircases and a doorway to nowhere this is definitely a property designed to resemble something more akin to a funhouse than a luxurious mansion but the reason that it was created?
Follow along with us as we try to unpick the facts from the legends that surround its creator Sarah Winchester.
